WHAT DOES A CAREER COACH DO?
Being let go from a job whether it's from being fired, through attrition or a departmental downsizing is torture on the brain. How will bills get paid? What will it cost me to buy health insurance once mine runs out? The list goes on.
On the other end of the spectrum, it's time to begin updating the resume, brushing up on skills, getting acquainted or reacquainted with your workplace values, practicing interview questions and searching for available jobs. Now you know why they say looking for a job is a full-time job. Think of a career coach as your unemployment angel!
As a career coach, Mike Doria Life helps individuals identify what they want and need from their career or, through the Self-Exploration Process, helps them transition into new careers. From there, he helps clients make decisions and take the needed actions to accomplish their career objectives in balance with the other parts of their lives.
A career coach is a person who can help you devise a game plan for applying for a new job, assist you with researching job openings either from job boards or SPIDER sites, help you update your resume and craft your cover letter and keep you motivated and sharp for interviews.
IDEAL CAREER COACHING CLIENTS MYTH: You don't have to be out of a job to utilize the services of a career coach. For example, if you are trying to launch a small business, a coach can come in extremely handy to keep you focused. Here are some situations to consider a career coach.

The first step in the process is called the Discovery Session. This is a free session to find out whether we are a fit and you'll benefit from the experience. You will answer four questions that speak to the reason you're in search of coaching. They'll also identify other potential blind spots and rough patches. If you are a fit, we'll then do some sorting to extract the main areas in most need of attention and work our way down. Other focus areas of coaching sessions may include:
All correspondence and information shared during the coaching sessions are considered confidential. But you can always mention on Social Media that we're having a session. I don't mind the publicity.
If you are not able to make it to a coaching session, please notify Mike Doria Life as soon as possible. If it's a last minute cancellation that was unforeseeable, no sweat! Life happens.
